"Marty had hair down to his shoulders. He struck me right away as a lunatic, in the sense that his energy was ferocious, and he loved, loved film."

Oliver Stone on his first impression of Scorsese.

This is probably my favorite speech in American history. Kudos to Anthony Hopkins for delivering it in such a touching, sincere way that Richard Nixon could only dream of achieving.

I love Nixon, though. Probably my favorite Oliver Stone film (JFK is dangerously close). The film got me so interested in the man that I actually watched the three-hour American Experience Nixon documentary so I can experience that slow-motion car crash all over again. And even as a mere witness to self-destruction, I feel only heartbreaking sympathy.
